You can easily start streaming on Twitch, with your current setup or with a little budget. However you can reach a point when you want to add more features, and more action to your stream. That’s the point when Twitch poll should help you. You can ask your viewers about anything, the next game, what should you talk about, etc.
Only Twitch affiliates or partner streamers can make poll on Twitch (or moderators) and only viewers can vote. You can create questions with many answers and followers can choose through the chat. Set the vote duration, that the viewers only can vote with bits or subscribers vote weight 2x than a simple viewer.
In this article we going through the setup options, and how you can pick the different options. If you are not a Twitch partner, alternatively you can use Streamlabs!
1. Make Poll on Twitch
The easiest way to start a poll is to simply enter to the chat the following code. Keep in mind, that only Twitch affiliates or partners can create poll on Twitch.

With that, a popup will appear, where you can add the main question, and the answers. It’s one of the simplest way, and moderators can also use it.

Set the question, add up to 5 answers, specify the duration, also you can enable the feature where voters can only vote with additional channel points.
Users can vote with the number of the option. So for example If the question is “What game should we play?” and the first answer is “League of Legends”, then the viewers will type the following code
/vote 1
Also the poll will appear at the top of the chat, and viewers can pick and click on vote as well, rather than type the option.
After the specified duration the results will appear, also you can end manually the poll as well, with the following command.
/endpoll
If you are not satisfied with the results, you can delete the poll. But keep in mind, that the results and the answers will be deleted as well.
/deletepoll
2. Manage Poll on Twitch with Quick Actions
However, the quickest way to create a poll is by type into the chat, you can use the Stream Manager dashboard, and start a poll with just one click. For that, the first step is to add poll feature in your creator account. Login to your Twitch account and in the upper left corner select “Creator Dashboard” option.

Choose the “Stream Manager” option under the “Creator Dashboard” panel, click on the plus sign in the box of Quick Actions.


After you added the “Manage Poll” option, with just a click you can start poll, with the above mentioned popup will appear.
3. Use Streamlabs to make poll
If you’re don’t want to be, or you currently not reaching the requirements of the Twitch partner status, you can use Streamlabs Cloudbot to start a poll. We already talked about in our Streamlabs article, but for starters, this is one of the best Twitch plugin that you can use for engaging with viewers, along with Nightbot.
The first step is to authorize Streamlabs to your Twitch account, after that the you should go to the Cloudbot page, and select Polls tab.

There you can add a new Add Poll Profile, by just clicking on it. You can add multiple option to the question, and specify the command, how your viewers can vote for it.

At the “Advanced” tab, set the duration, and the feedback notification, what the user gets after a successful vote.

Also you can use Streamlabs OBS to start or create a poll, instantly at the dashboard.
Why should you use the poll feature?
With polls you can engage with your viewers, make contact and also go to the right direction, where the viewers feel importance. (And they will not choose the other 1000+ other streamer.)
